Guys guide to Pregnancy and How to survive it

A Mans Guide to pregnancy!

Having a baby is what most everyone says is the greatest joy in there lives. Creating and bringing two people together to make a new soul/being. It is truly the best experience of my life so far.

Hello My name is Michael and I am going to welcome you to my story of life in the making. I'm 24 and my wife is 21 and just a few days ago we found out that we were going to have a baby. To be truthful yes I was scared out of my mind when she first told me and showed me the pregnancy test, but something happened in the next few seconds that even amazed me. I looked at my wife kissed her and time actually stopped " I am going to be a dad" I thought to myself. What should I do how should I act she is sitting there holding her tummy and smiling its the happiest moment of her life.

Oh my Lord we have to tell our parents that we just turned them into grandparents. Yeah that just sounds like an amazing idea. The thought that is running through her head is that her parents are going to be speechless, well and for me ha! yeah the thought that is going through my head is how my mom said since I was in high school "You make me into a grandmother and i am going to castrate you with a big old knife.
Well actually she just want us to be out of debt then everything would be peachy. Yep I just officially seen my life flash before my eyes and it was just because I thought of telling her.
Well I asked my wife just wait until I get home from work to tell everyone and that day I got off work early to suprize her at home, and as I walked through the door there she was sitting on the couch holding the phone like she has been there all day waiting for me. I couldn't say no. first went her parents at first they did not believe us at all and when it sunk in there were tears of joy on both ends of the phone line. same went with the grandparents and our bother and sisters.
Then finally when I was on my way back to work I swallowed my tongue and called my mom. I can honestly say that I was sweating bullets. But she suprized me, besides telling me that I was stupid for not waiting till I had more money. She was giving me tips and pointers on what test my wife and I should go take to see if the baby is healthy and the words that meant the most to me was that she said that I will make a great father and that I shouldn't worry. To be honest when I got to work that night I was 10 or so minutes late because I was shocked. My mom Is the best ever...(LOVE YOU MOMMY) LOL GRANDMA!!!! lol
Our lives are changing so much so early but beside keeping the bills in check that is our only worry. I am trying to do the best I can with everything she is going through, moodswings, increased hunger, what seems to be the worlds smallest bladder oh and my personal favorite how passionate she is about everything. Whether she is watching a movie or walking in the park with me. Its just amazing on how she looks at the world now.
Now for a Guy yes I have learned that apparently we will go through some changes to. One of which is how protective we become in and out of the home. Yeah and I cant seem to stop talking about her or the baby at work. Secondly there are things that get to a male on a subconscious level. Like ever since We have found out about our bundle of joy I have been having these dreams where my wife would be in danger and I would appear out of nowhere and beat a random guy to within an inch of his life just for threatening her. Now If your a guy and reading this Don't worry according to many psychiatrist this is very normal. Well as long as you don't go off and actually kill someone. But yes amongst many different changes we both go through I have learned to be careful on what I say and how I say it, a pregnant woman is very emotional/sensitive to everything whether you find it funny or not. Next just be understanding she has alot of hormones at work and her body is changing so much so quickly that she is scared, excited and overwhelmed with the whole process. So no matter what be Patient it will help you both keep your heads on straight.
A MANS BEST FRIEND: Give her a romantic yet non sexual massage it will relax her and the baby and do some research on it it can only help. But remember as much as you worship the ground she walks on she is still human so when she is sitting in the room next to the kitchen 5 ft away from the refrigerator let her get her own food... After all your not a freaken slave you have * more months to go!!! yeah I know hurray!
SO before you cry Remember the first trimester is said to be the worst, headaches, cramps, hunger, moodiness oh and everyone's favorite morning sickness, which by the way can happen at any time not just the morning.
Ok so back to our story we are assuming that she is five or so weeks along and we are trying to figure names out getting hint and tips from friend and family. And the weirdest thing I have experienced was my first trip to Babies R Us as a dad. It was weird at first but holy crap looking at some of these strollers and other baby stuff one it can get expensive quick but wow some of this is actually pretty cool. for one some of the strollers have shocks Suprize to me) and they have a bed that I swear it have to be a genius from a transformers movie to think it up. It starts out as a crib with a changing table and as the child grows it transforms into a day bed. and a few years later that day bed can transform into a twin bed with a night stand. seriously how awesome is that. It saves money and grows with your child. I don't know what to really say but this store rocks. Wow did I just tun into daddy mode or what!
There are so many thing to do and plan and get ready for its going to be a long and next to impossible journey but what its turning out to be so far I m looking forward to living it through!

And if your interested in our story write us some comment or suggestions.... I will be updateing this blog every week or two depending on our experiences.... So enjoy, Michael & Heather

Part two : well she is around 7 weeks now and all I can say is WOW! We have noticed changes going on with her body Breast tenderness moods swings and guy "BE AWARE" If your other half is a animal person do NOT watch anything that involves horses dieing like the Jacky Chan Movie "The Myth" Great movie alot of action and mystery, but the second the samurai's horse gets hit by an arrow she might break down to the extent like she knew the horse on a personal level. So to be warned you might wanna be very considerate of how she thinks befoe you pick that next block buster hit.
Ok so to continue on with to to does and donts.
To Do #1: Watch her cravings they can come and go at anytime.
It would be wise and look good for you to keep in mind what her favorite foods are and hide a few extra, in my cases oranges in the refrigerator in case that craving hits late at night. Thats right you can be the late night White Night. yes you will be tired as hell but you will have a happy wife when you suprize her. Well that and you will be able to finish your nap at 3am.
To NOT do #1: what ever you do at anytime during the pregnancy don't laugh at her when she is being emotional you will hear about how much of a jerk you are days later for it. Just listen and talk to her to calm her down. (FYI) Remember according to many people/doctors when she is stressed the baby will feel the stress as well and that wont be healthy for the baby.
To Do: #2 Even if your not into the whole touchy feely kinda thing it would be recommended that a massage would be soothing to both partners in this case. By doing so you will be the man of her dreams once again, That guy that she brags about to her lady friends and not to mention a happy pregnant wife means less stress on her which means less stress on you daddy.
To NOT Do: #2 Do not and I repeat do not by any circumstance try to convince your wife to try a drink/food because you just know she will love it, when she says hunny I don't want to. Long story put short You might be wearing what ever it was you got her to sample. There appetites and sensitivity to there senses can turn there tummy's like a on off switch.

Well until next week have a happy Pregnancy! MB
